NASCAR, BetMGM Enter Partnership Before Sunday’s Historic Race

NASCAR and BetMGM have entered into a multi-year partnership just before Sunday’s Go Bowling 235 and are celebrating with a free bet promotion for the race.

NASCAR was a saving grace for bettors across America.

For weeks, the sport offered a respite to fans eager for any live competition. That’s not to mention the millions of fans who watch any race, any time.

Now, NASCAR has entered a multi-year partnership with BetMGM, which recently became Indiana’s third-ranked mobile sportsbook.

NASCAR, BetMGM partnership meant to build betting exposure

The partnership will give bettors on BetMGM’s app expanded pre-race and live bets.

The two sides say they are exploring various bet types:

  • Top-finishing drivers
  • Matchups
  • Stage winners
  • Number of winning car

“Partnering with a best-in-class operator like BetMGM positions NASCAR to build on the positive energy and momentum we’re seeing around gaming and in particular the live in-race experience,” Scott Warfield, NASCAR’s managing director of gaming, said in a statement.

He called MGM an “iconic brand.”

NASCAR has seen significant value growth since returning in May amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Before that, drivers joined the eNASCAR iRacing Pro Invitational Series.

The sport’s betting handle has grown significantly. BetMGM, for instance, has tallied NASCAR turnover growth of nearly 1,300% through this year’s first seven months.

The partnership is expected to build betting choices for NASCAR fans, specifically live bets.

BetMGM will have the right to use NASCAR’s logo and can utilize the sport in various app and social media marketing opportunities.

NASCAR, meanwhile, will promote BetMGM on its digital platforms:

  • Website
  • Mobile app
  • Social media

Seven states have allowed BetMGM to open operations. It is expected to be in 11 states by the end of this year.

“We’re excited to work with the NASCAR team to build immersive sports betting experiences that 21st-century racing fans crave,” said BetMGM Chief Marketing Officer Matt Prevost.

“BetMGM’s unparalleled betting technology combined with NASCAR’s iconic races will create a superior betting experience for racing fans all over the United States.”

BetMGM will join live sports data company Genius Sports in 2021. The move is an effort to position itself near the top of the live-betting heap.

NASCAR and BetMGM have also announced they are working on a free NASCAR game.

Go Bowling 235 next go-to event for NASCAR fans

NASCAR drivers will run a 65-lap, 231-mile race Sunday afternoon in Daytona.

The Go Bowling 235 race will be at Daytona International Speedway. It is the first Cup Series race on the speedway’s road course. Making things more difficult for drivers is the lack of practice and qualifying.

To celebrate its new partnership, BetMGM is offering $10 free bets for the race.

BetMGM mobile bettors in New Jersey, West Virginia, Indiana and Colorado are eligible for the promotion.

Bettors must place a wager of $10 or more on the Go Bowling 235 before receiving the free bet.

Kevin Harvick will start on the pole. BetMGM has him listed at +700, while he is +650 on FanDuel and +700 on DraftKings.

Chase Elliott and Martin Truex Jr. are listed as co-favorites on BetMGM and DraftKings, both at +400.

FanDuel posts Elliott at +420, followed by Truex at +600 and Denny Hamlin at +650.
