Hollywood Casino Lawrenceburg & Sportsbook Review

Hollywood Casino in Lawrenceburg, Ind., was one of the sportsbooks opened in the state of Indiana. They wasted no time and were taking bets on the first day possible, just in time for NFL football.

Hollywood Casino, which is owned by Penn National Gaming, jumped in with both feet when sports betting was legalized in Indiana. The sportsbook has 20 televisions, 16 kiosks and a full-service bar/restaurant called the House Hops 99.

Kiosks are also spread out on the casino floor so you can place a bet while only walking a few steps from your table game.

Hollywood Casino is a dockside riverboat casino featuring 2,000 slots and 97 tables. The casino is one of the biggest in the state at over 74,000 square feet.

Digital partner Kambi will eventually host an online sportsbook, but as of now, it does not offer an online mobile app for sports betting. Lawrenceburg is 20 miles west of Cincinnati.

Hollywood Casino just finished running a 5K Season’s Greeting giveaway. Players could enter every day in December. Bonus entries could be received for downloading the Abradoodle Bingo or Viva Slots Vegas apps. There were also gift card giveaways throughout the promotion.

Hollywood Casino is also a part of the MyChoice Reward program. New members will receive $30 in Free Play guaranteed, then up to $500 after three visits.

On Mondays in December, they also had drawings for free slot play from noon to 4 pm, with two winners of $500 in free play at 4 pm. Every month a new calendar and monthly promotion is released.

Also, if you are MyChoice Rewards member and you are seated at a table game on Fridays, you could win $250 in free play.

With the large floor plan, you won’t be limited on choices like some of the smaller casinos in Indiana. On top of having one of the largest sportsbooks in the state, it also has one of the larger number of table games.

Two thousand slots is a lot, but there are some complaints that it does not offer some of the more popular slot games.

Table games

Hollywood Casino offers all your traditional table games, with a few new ones mixed in. With 97 tables, you will find something you enjoy.

  • Blackjack
  • Blazing Roulette
  • Craps
  • Roulette
  • Mississippi Stud
  • EZ Baccarat
  • Three-Card Poker
  • Craps Free Craps
  • High Card Flush

Craps Free Craps is becoming a popular game in the casino industry, with removing the don’t pass and don’t come lines from the game. High Card Flush is a game where you try to put together a hand with similar suits and a lot of side bets and multipliers.

Another interesting twist is Hollywood Casino’s celebrity dealers three nights a week.

One of the big reasons Hollywood Casino in Lawrenceburg is so popular is its live poker room. A lot of other casinos in Indiana don’t offer the poker option, and that room has become one of the more popular areas in the whole casino.

It has 19 tables, and it has tournaments every day and really comfortable seating for an all-day poker experience that is, in our opinion, the best in the state.

The Lawrenceburg location recently added a lot of new slot games, with over 1,500 true slot machines to go with a full arsenal of video poker terminals. A lot of the new additions helped address the complaint that a lot of popular games were missing.

While it still doesn’t have The Walking Dead and Big Bang Theory machines that have become popular, it has added over 16 new titles to keep the regulars coming back for more.

E-Table games

Even though it has one of the best assortment of table games in the state, Hollywood didn’t short anyone on the electronic games. For our money, this is the second-best E-table setup in the state behind Ameristar Casino East Chicago.

If you are intimidated by table games, this is a great way to introduce yourself. E-tables have a lower minimum bet, and you don’t have to deal with some of the pressure from more experienced players at the live tables.

The live screens have a choice of four different games: craps, roulette, blackjack and mini-baccarat. You can even play all four simultaneously if you are really looking for some action.

Electronic blackjack has a minimum of only $3 if you are a player who doesn’t like to throw down too much money. The E-table area features 24 55-inch display screens with 12 on each side of the stage and 30 player stations.

The House Hops 99 is home to the newly remodeled area, which now has a sportsbook. Hollywood Casino has done a great job of bringing Vegas to Indiana with a setup that definitely has a Las Vegas feel.

It has tons of televisions and boards that scroll through the odds for the day. Every NFL game is offered, as well as lots of other options including football, basketball, hockey, soccer, baseball, golf, tennis, auto racing, rugby, cycling, boxing, MMA, and cricket.

The sportsbook offers straight bets, moneylines, parlays, futures and props. Hollywood Casino offers live, or in-play betting, which some casinos have yet to offer.

Once this sportsbook goes live with a mobile app, it will have everything you could possibly want in a sports betting host.

Rewards program

Hollywood Casino offers the MyChoice Rewards program. There is no cost to join, and the program is run across a lot of different casinos, including the Ameristar East Chicago. Members will get access to discounts, or even free hotel stays, as well as early access to special promotions.

As you play, you will work your way up through a four-tier system. As you bet, you will gain points, whether you are playing slots, table games or betting at the sportsbook.

  • Under 200 points will get you $5 on your first visit, $10 on your second and $15 on your third.
  • 200 -399 points and you will receive $15, $20, then $30 on your third visit.
  • 400-599 points members receive $25, $30 and $45
  • 600-799 points members receive $35, $40, and then $60 on their third visit.
  • 800-plus point members receive $45, $50 and $75
  • Points can be redeemed for casino credit, dining, hotel stays and even shopping. There are 35 casinos that participate in the MyChoice Rewards program.

Online gaming

Currently, Hollywood Casino does not have a mobile app for sports betting, and online casino play was not allowed under the sports betting legislation. Hollywood Casino does have online slots that can be played for free using a credit system.

Hollywood Casino offers six different dining areas in the casino. The offerings range from a coffeehouse, bars, buffet and a fine dining area.

Celebrity chef Fabio Viviani helps set the menu for The Eatery that might be the best value dining option of any casino in the state. The Eatery and Final Cut Steakhouse are two of the best dining experiences in any casino.

Hollywood & Grind

The coffeehouse offers a breakfast buffet and a good assortment of options on a regular breakfast menu. If you need a Starbucks fix, they offer Starbucks coffee throughout the day.

Hours of operation

  • Sunday-Thursday: 8 am – 8 pm
  • Friday and Saturday: 8 am – 10 pm

The bar offers plush seating and a great cocktail lounge look. They offer appetizers and cocktails from around the world and a great wine selection.

Hours of operation

  • Closed Monday and Tuesday
  • Wednesday and Thursday: 4 pm – 10 pm
  • Friday and Saturday: 4 pm – midnight
  • Sunday: 4 pm – 10 pm

Epic Buffet

This is really an upscale buffet, especially for a casino. Friday nights are an all-you-can-eat seafood buffet, while Saturday night is carved meats. The prices are pretty fair considering the quality of food.

It also offers a brunch on Saturday and Sunday mornings with the typical choices of eggs, sausage, bacon, pancakes, and the like. MyChoice Rewards members receive a $2 discount.

Prices are $17.99 for the brunch and ranges from $21.99 to $24.99 for the dinner buffet.

Hours of operation

  • Closed Monday and Tuesday
  • Wednesday and Thursday: 4 pm – 9 pm
  • Friday: 4 pm – 10 pm
  • Saturday and Sunday Brunch: 8 am – 2 pm
  • Saturday Dinner: 4 pm – 9 pm
  • Sunday Dinner: 4 pm – 8 pm

99 Hops House

As the name might suggest, you can find 99 different beers at this American Pub style bar/restaurant. It also keeps it local as it has over 30 locally brewed beers.

This is a great place to watch your sports bets, with over 20 televisions and betting kiosks located throughout the venue. Grab a burger while watching the last few minutes of the game to see if your bet hit.

Hours of operation

  • Monday – Thursday: 11:30 am – 11 pm
  • Friday and Saturday: 11:30 am – 1 am
  • Sunday: 11:30 am – 11 pm

The Eatery

This area was created by Viviani, the world-renowned chef. American and Italian food are featured on an expansive menu that won’t break the bank.

If you watch “Top Chef,” you will know Viviani, and he brings his flare to every menu item. The menu features burgers, fried chicken, gourmet salads, pizzas and much more. It is open every day of the week from 11 am to 3 am.

Final Cut Steakhouse

This is a premium steakhouse, and you will pay like it is. The menu has the best of the best: A great selection of beef, fresh seafood and a great wine selection.

If you like the finer things in life, this is the place you want to eat. For my money, I prefer The Eatery. The food there is almost as good at a third of the price.

Hours of operation

  • Closed Monday and Tuesday
  • Wednesday and Thursday: 5 pm – 10 pm
  • Friday and Saturday: 5 pm – 11 pm
  • Sunday: 5 pm – 10 pm

Hollywood Casino does the best job of imitating a Las Vegas-style hotel and casino. The Boogie Nights, a 70s and 80s dance club, is one of the better entertainment spots in the area. There is also live entertainment on the roof every Thursday, Friday and Saturday night.

People from all over the tri-state area travel for the entertainment and dancing.

There is also an event center on the grounds that features some of the best concerts in the area. Jamey Johnson, Vince Neil, and Vicki Lawrence are all coming in the next few months. Keep an eye on the calendar as they add events regularly.
