French Lick Casino & Sportsbook Review

When you hear French Lick, Ind., the first thing most people think of is Larry Bird. French Lick Resort Casino is starting to change that with an extremely nice property in Southern Indiana.

The casino and resort opened on Nov. 3, 2006. This was the site of Indiana’s first land-based casino after the moat around the casino was filled in.

For a casino and resort basically in the middle of nowhere, this is a really nice facility with a lot of offerings. From one of the state’s most historical hotels to a full-service spa, the casino, and even three golf courses, this place has it all. The hotel was named the best historic hotel by USA Today.

While it is not the biggest casino by any means at 51,000 square feet, you will find plenty of options to meet your gambling needs. For the sports gamblers, French Lick is partnered with BetRivers. BetRivers is one of only three companies that has an active mobile app for sports betting in the state of Indiana.

For the sports bettors, BetRivers has a number of really good promotions to get you to use its app. BetRivers has offered free bets and deposit matches to try and keep up with FanDuel and DraftKings.

It wants to try and drive business to get customers on its app, and then have them become regular sports bettors at French Lick and online.

If you sign up at BetRivers, or register at French Lick for the app, you will receive a match on your first deposit up to $250. This deal requires no code; just register and deposit, and it is all yours.

The best part of BetRivers’ deposit match is that the playthrough is much smaller than the competitors. FanDuel and DraftKings make you play the amount multiple times to be able to get the money out of your account. With BetRivers, all you have to do it play it through once, and it is withdrawal eligible.

Inside the casino, it runs some really nice promotions as well. Fab 50 is a promotion for those players over the age of 50 that runs on Tuesdays from 8:50 am to 2:50 pm, with prizes being awarded on the 50s until 3:50, when someone walks away with $500 in cash.

Every Wednesday in January is ladies’ night. All female players are eligible for a share of $3,000 in cash and prizes, with entries taken from noon to 8:59 pm.

For the sportsbook players, you can redeem your losing playoff bet for a chance at a prize during halftime of every playoff game.

French Lick Casino has its own rewards program. If you sign up in January, you are eligible for the new members’ slot tournament on Jan. 26 from 2 to 5 pm.

For the men, don’t feel left out, as it will have guys’ nights in February. Come in on Wednesday in February from 5 to 9 pm for your chance at $3,000 in cash and prizes.

Even though French Lick isn’t one of the biggest casinos, it does have a decent amount of selection. The casino is only one story, so you don’t have to worry about going up flights of stairs to find your gambling preference.

The gambling never stops as French Lick is a 24/7 casino.

Table games

French Lick Casino offers 37 table games with many of your favorites. Most of the casino is smoking allowed, but it does have an area where you can play slots and table games in a non-smoking environment.

  • Blackjack
  • 21+3
  • Craps
  • Roulette
  • Sharp Shooter
  • Mini-Baccarat
  • Shufflemaster Poker Progressive
  • Three Card Poker
  • Crazy 4 Poker
  • High Card Flush
  • Mississippi Stud

A lot of games that you can’t find at the smaller casinos are at French Lick. High Card Flush, Crazy 4 Poker and Shufflemaster Poker Progressive are usually reserved for the bigger casinos. There is also a high-limit gaming area with slots and table games.

French Lick offers over 1,000 slots ranging from video poker to progressive jackpots. Limits range from penny slots all the way to $100 machines in the high-limit room.

All of your favorite titles are at the newly remodeled French Lick slot area.

  • Lightning Link
  • Fate Of The 8
  • Buffalo Thundering 7s
  • Dragon Link
  • Buffalo Grand
  • Golden Wins
  • Wonder 4 Tall Fortunes

French Lick Sportsbook

Not only does French Lick partner with BetRivers, it has a nice sportsbook inside its casino. There is a large area with tons of TVs and seating to follow your bet.

The area just opened in late fall, so everything is brand new. There are two betting windows and eight kiosks on the casino floor that can be used 24/7.

Hours of operations

  • Monday – Thursday: Noon – 10 pm
  • Friday – Sunday: 9 am – 11 pm

Rewards program

French Lick is one of the few places that offers its own rewards program. Most smaller casinos offer a program that is used across multiple casinos.

It is a three-tier system that increases in value the more you play. There are Ruby, Amber and Emerald level playing cards.

Online gaming

BetRivers offers online sports betting, making French Lick one of the few casinos that offers a mobile sports betting app.

Because of the pure size of the resort, there are a number of dining options. Both hotels offer restaurants, and the casino has a nice selection of dining from quick treats to fine dining.

1875: The Steakhouse

This restaurant is named after the first running of the Kentucky Derby in 1875. This is the Spring Hotel’s marquee restaurant. The open kitchen gives the steakhouse a modern look. I would say this is the best restaurant of the bunch, but it is on the higher end price-wise.

Hours of operation

  • Sunday – Thursday: 6 pm – 9 pm
  • Friday and Saturday: 5 pm – 10 pm

Sinclair’s Restaurant

Sinclair’s is located in the West Baden Springs Hotel. Lee W. Sinclair was the owner of the original West Baden Hotel, and the restaurant takes his name. Like 1875: The Steakhouse, this is a fine dining experience.

Hours of operation

  • Sunday – Thursday: 6 pm – 9 pm
  • Friday and Saturday: 5 pm – 10 pm

Table One

Table One is also located in the West Baden Springs Hotel. This is a table for 10 that has to be specially reserved so you get an experience unlike any other, as the chef will be there from start to finish for a great experience.

Power Plant Bar and Grill

Power Plant Bar and Grill is located inside the French Lick Springs Hotel. This has your typical bar and grill menu with burgers, salads, appetizers and a great drink selection.

Hours of operation

  • Monday – Saturday: 11 am – midnight
  • Sunday: 2 pm – 11 pm

Spring No. 8 Deli

Like the Power Plant Bar and Grill, the Spring No. 8 Deli is located inside the French Lick Springs Hotel. The deli name is misleading, as the food is much better and has a greater selection than a deli.

This pool bar has some of the best nachos we have ever had.

Hours of operation

Only open during the summer

Grand Colonnade Restaurant

This is a breakfast buffet on steroids. Come with an appetite, as the selections are endless. This restaurant was awarded one of TripAdvisor’s Excellence Awards.

Hours of operation

  • Daily: 7 am – 11 am
  • Sunday Brunch: 11 am – 2 pm

Pluto’s Pizzeria

Every casino has to have a good pizza place if you are open all day. The calzones are delicious, and Pluto’s was also awarded a TripAdvisor Award.

Hours of operation

  • Sunday – Thursday: 11 am – 11 pm
  • Friday and Saturday: 11 am – midnight

Each hotel has its own spa, making reservations a lot easier to get. The Spa at French Lick is the larger of the two, with 28 rooms with services from facials to full-body massages.

Hours of operation

● Monday – Thursday: 10 am – 8 pm
● Friday and Saturday: 9 am – 9 pm
● Sunday: 9 am – 5 pm
