No one wants the NFL season to happen more than sportsbooks, and now that the season is right around the corner (for the time being), sportsbooks are launching new promotions to celebrate.
DraftKings Sportsbook is attempting to draw in bettors with its $100 Million Golden Ticket Giveaway.
The DraftKings promo gives everyone a free reward between $5 and $25,000, along with a chance to win $1 million.
It’s an impeccable deal for anyone both confident in their NFL picks and in favor of free money.
Join DraftKing’s Golden Ticket promo with no risk
Sure, it may be difficult to predict whether the NFL season happens. It’s even harder to imagine what a sport so reliant on crowd noise will look like without fans.
However, that uncertainty is no reason not to get involved with DraftKings’ latest promotion.
After opting in here, players will make a free week-one pick as part of the promo’s survivor pool.
After reserving the entry, DraftKings will reveal a free reward ranging from $5 to $25,000 posted to players’ accounts. Reward tiers from $5 to $500 are given as site credit; the $1,000 and $25,000 tiers are awarded as cash.
Players will then enter a sweepstakes drawing to win $1 million; the winner will be announced Sept. 13. All users are eligible.
From that point on, players will last as long as possible in the survivor pool.
To play, customers will choose a new team to win each week. Teams can only be used once throughout the entire season. A player remains in the pool as long as their picks continue to win.
Once a player’s weekly pick loses, they are out of the survivor pool. The competition requires a strategic approach built around surveying matchups and holding back on the league’s top talent.
A $1 million top prize will eventually be awarded by DraftKings to the pool’s winner.
Player opt-outs make predicting games even harder
One prominent trend throwing cold water on the potential start of the NFL season has been player opt-outs.
Numerous big-name players have chosen not to join their teams for the 2020 campaign:
- CJ Mosley– New York Jets linebacker
- Damien Williams– Kansas City Chiefs running back and Super Bowl star
- Nate Solder– New York Giants offensive tackle
- Marquise Goodwin– Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver
- Patrick Chung– New England Patriots safety
That’s just to name a few.
One team hit particularly hard by opt-outs has been the New England Patriots. The Patriots saw eight players opt out, including linebacker Dont’a Hightower.
It could be Bill Belichick’s toughest year since taking over the reins in New England.
So, what does it mean if even the Patriots are on loose footing?
It means we are in for a season of uncertainty. Likely more so than what has been seen in MLB and its multiple pauses and team season delays.
This will definitely add a wrench into pick ‘em setups like the one offered by DraftKings, but with no risk and a guarantee of free money, what do you have to lose?
