Caesars Southern Indiana Retail Casino & Sportsbook Review
The Southern Indiana Horseshoe Casino, Hotel and Spa is a great location in Elizabeth, Ind. The location opened in 1998 and is right across the river from Louisville, Ky., on the Ohio River.
This is one of the larger casinos in Indiana, with over 110,000 square feet of gaming area. The location, formerly known as the Horseshoe Southern Indiana, and “The Boat” by the locals, has a little bit of everything. There is a hotel, spa, a newly opened sportsbook, dining and even a golf course.
The new sportsbook is called The Book at all Caesars locations in Indiana. The Book sees a lot of action from Kentucky since Indiana offers legal sports betting, and so far, Kentucky does not.
Louisville basketball especially brings a lot of action to the casino. Just last month, the riverboat closed for a week, as the new land casino opened on Dec. 12.
The location is now named Caesars Southern Indiana after the move to dry land and is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The new location came in at a total cost of $90 million.
Because the Southern Indiana Casino is owned by Caesars, there are always tons of promotions going on throughout the casino.
Super Senior Wednesday is currently the biggest promotion available. Gamblers 55 and over can get 3x the multipliers, get 70 extra-tier credits, a free entree and 20% off a regularly-priced item in the gift shop.
For the sports bettors, Caesars just ended an NFL pick ’em contest that ran throughout the NFL season. You just came in, swiped your rewards card and picked the NFL games.
There was a season-long leaderboard and prizes for weekly winners. At the end of the season, someone won a trip to the Super Bowl and prizes valued at over $1 million were rewarded.
The January Kiosk Game is running on Jan. 19 and 26 from 6 am to 7:45 pm, with the prize redemption area open from 2 pm to 8 pm. After you earn 75 tier credits, you redeem at the kiosk for a prize.
Prizes range from free play to cash. Check the venue’s website as new promotions are added monthly.
With 110,000 square feet of gaming, this location is huge. Sometimes with casinos this big, parking is an issue, but with a four-story parking garage and shuttles running from Louisville and Indianapolis, there isn’t usually any problem finding a spot.
As you have come to expect with Caesars properties, there are plenty of games to choose from. If you are a high roller, you know that no casino matches the high limits of a Caesars property.
- 5-Spot Blackjack
- EZ Baccarat
- 3-Card Poker
- Play Four Poker
- Mississippi Stud
- Ultimate Texas Hold ‘Em
- High Card Flush
- Caribbean Stud
The high limit area inside the new land-based casino is one of the best you will find anywhere. There are 100x odds on the craps table, and blackjack has a crazy high limit of $50,000. The high limit room is located on deck four and is special access only.
There is also a pretty nice area where you can play electronic blackjack and roulette. This area is great for gamblers who are still trying to figure out some of the table games.
The limits are lower, and you don’t have the pressure you get at the live tables.
This is one of the bigger poker rooms in Indiana with over 30 tables. Caesars and poker go hand in hand, with Caesars being the company that launched the World Series of Poker.
This poker room has been named the best in Indiana numerous times by different magazines. You will fill different game types and limits, and a nice selection of daily and scheduled tournaments.
The new casino has brought a complete remodel to the slot area. There are over 1,700 different slot machines to choose from, as well as countless of your favorite games. Limits start from a penny all the way up to $1,000 machines in the high limit area.
- Wheel of Fortune
- Hot Shot Progressives
- Quick Hits
- Wild Party Progressive
The Book is where all the newly legalized sports betting happens and can be found on the second deck. It has a great lounge-like atmosphere with over 30 televisions to follow your bets.
The staff does a great job of helping beginner bettors, and there are a lot of different places to place your bets. Windows are offered for those who might want some assistance, or there are a number of different kiosks throughout the casino to enter a bet on your own.
You can bet on all your favorite sports and teams. Currently, there is not a mobile app available, but it does have a contract, so eventually, there will be a mobile Caesars app for Indiana sports gamblers.
Hours of operation
- Monday – Friday: Noon – midnight
- Saturday and Sunday: 10 am – midnight
Caesars Rewards is found at the other seven Indiana locations. The rewards and points will travel with you to the other Caesars locations throughout Indiana and internationally.
Registering and getting points will get you discounted hotel stays, free play, and trips, and you can get a credit card to earn even more points. Caesars owns over 40 properties across the world, giving a gambling traveler options wherever they stay.
Climb the tier system the more you play.

Caesars is working on a mobile app for all of its locations. Once it enters the mobile market, you can bet it will offer a quality product that is comparable with FanDuel and DraftKings. Be on the lookout for great welcome bonuses and promotions.
Surprisingly there are only three dining locations inside the Caesars Southern Indiana. Food can sometimes create long lines with no buffet option to handle a lot of the crowd.
Aroma Cafe Bar
The cafe is located directly inside the lobby. It offers coffee and pastries as well as a full breakfast menu for the early risers. After breakfast, it offers appetizers, sandwiches, pizza, and even steak and seafood.
This is more than your usual cafe. If you are looking for something after a meal, there is a lengthy list of desserts.
Hours of operation
- Sunday – Thursday: 6 am -11 pm
- Friday and Saturday: 6 am – 2 am
The new location just outside of the casino offers a little bit of everything. The food court offers four different cuisine options.
This is just good old-fashioned southern cooking. Meatloaf, ribs, fried chicken, and all of your comfort food favorites. The side dishes are my favorite part of the Caesars Southern Indiana.
The mac and cheese is a must, but it also has baked beans, hot browns, and potato salad. This is also the host of the weekend brunch starting at 11 am.
Hours of operation
- Daily: 11 am – 11 pm
This 24/7 restaurant offers your bar and grill favorites with fast service to get you back on the casino floor. The cheeseburger and chicken wings are the two most popular items and pair well with some sports gambling action at The Book. The homemade onion rings are a must as well.
Noodles is a trademark restaurant you will see at a lot of at Caesars locations. The Asian food is prepared fresh, and the menu options range from ramen to sushi.
Hours of operation
- Monday – Thursday: 5 pm – 10 pm
- Friday and Saturday: Noon – 2 am
- Sunday: Noon – 10 pm
If you’re in the mood for some Mexican food, Cantina is the place to be. It has nachos, tacos and burritos that can all be done with your choice of steak, chicken, pork carnitas, and shrimp.
Hours of operation
- Sunday – Thursday: 11 am – 10 pm
- Friday and Saturday: 11 am – 2 am
Jack Binion’s Steak
Jack Binion’s Steak is a Caesars exclusive that will compete against any steakhouse. This award-winning restaurant was named after Caesars founder Jack Binnion. Every cut of beef is hand-selected and trimmed to perfection.
Because of the great food, it is recommended to call ahead for reservations. The prices are fairly high, so if you’re on a budget, I recommend eating at The Piazza.
Hours of operation
- Sunday – Thursday: 5 pm – 9 pm
- Friday and Saturday: 5 pm – 10 pm
Other Indiana Locations
If you are looking to make a weekend of it, you can start the day off right with the Golf Course at Chariot Run. It was one of the top public courses in the state of Indiana. The 18-hole, 7,200-yard course features a newly remodeled clubhouse.
If you are looking for a little pampering, Indulge the Spa has services for both men and women. Massages, facials, body treatments, and nails are all offered. Prices range from $55 up to $150 for massage and treatment packages.
There are also three light night entertainment options on property. The Volt Lounge is a 24-hour bar where you can grab a drink any time. The music and energy get cranked up later in the evening.
Volt also has live music from a DJ on weekends from 9 pm to 2 am.
Juno Bar is just outside the event center for gamblers and guests attending a wedding or convention. This bar is also open 24 hours, and the 360-degree setup leaves you with a great view of everything Caesars Southern Indiana has to offer.
Spears and Spirits is inside the casino and is perfect if you want to grab a drink to go with your food from The Piazza or want to enjoy something to celebrate your winnings after hitting a big bet at The Book.
